Verizon intros new 5 GB and 10 GB prepaid plans with Always-on Data and carryover

Verizon wouldn't admit it, but it is feeling a bit of a pinch from the simplified T-Mobile and Sprint plans, losing some subscriber base to those last quarter, so it is gearing up for a response. America's largest carrier just introduced two new prepaid data tiers, which are a great way to woo back some of the price-sensitive crowd. Don't get us wrong, it's still Big Red, so they aren't going crazy with discounts, but in addition to the current 3 GB for $45 and 6 GB for $60 options, Verizon is now offering 5 GB and 10 GB tiers, with perks:
  • 5 GB for $50 — Unlimited talk and text in the U.S., Carryover Data with on-time payment, Mobile Hotspot, Always-On Data (128 kbps throttling after the high-speed allowance) and International Messaging to 200+ countries;
  • 10 GB for $70 — Includes the same features, plus unlimited calling to Mexico and Canada.

Not cheap, but considering there is no credit check and no contract, plus perks like LTE tethering and carryover data, it's a good deal, especially if you have your own device, or need some midrange burner to get you through a period. The new plans go live and in action starting November 13, that is why you won't be able to see them on Verizon's website just yet.
